a) You hit your tee shot wayward and properly announce and play a provisional ball which comes to rest on the edge of the fairway. You play your next stroke with the provisional ball onto the putting green and then take two putts to complete the hole.

b) You hit your tee shot wayward and go forward to search for your ball. You cannot find it and before the end of the three-minute search time you drop a ball properly in the fairway using Model Local Rule E-5 (Alternative to Stroke and Distance) because the Committee put it into effect. You play your next stroke with that ball onto the putting green and then take two putts to complete the hole.

c) You hit your tee shot wayward and properly announce and play a provisional ball which comes to rest in the rough. You search briefly and do not find your ball, but do not like the lie of the provisional ball, so you drop a ball in the fairway using Model Local Rule E-5 (Alternative to Stroke and Distance) because the Committee put it into effect. You play your next stroke with the dropped ball onto the putting green and take one putt to complete the hole.

d) Your score is 6 in both scenario A and scenario B.
