Welcome to the USGA’s Rules 101! Upon completion of this course, you will have a very solid foundational knowledge of the Rules and will be equipped to navigate the majority of Rules situations you might encounter during a round of golf. Rules 101 focuses on the playing Rules, especially those used or encountered most frequently by golfers.
This course is appropriate for anyone new to the game or to the Rules, but also for nearly anyone who does not already have advanced knowledge of the Rules.
To access this course, you will be prompted to create a free account (or login to an existing account in our system). This is required to capture and store your progress through the course.

Course Details
See below for some basic information about Rules 101:
- This course is completely free of charge.
- There are nine modules (an introduction plus eight different topics).
- Feel free to complete the entire course from start to finish, or to bounce around and focus on specific topics.
- Your progress through the course will be saved, so feel free to complete the course in multiple sessions, or simply return any time for a tune-up.
- You can always access this course by hovering over your profile icon at the top right corner of this page and clicking on My Account. Once you have started this course, it will be saved in the Courses tab within My Account.
- This course functions best on laptop/desktop computers. It will function on mobile devices, but tablets are NOT recommended.
