PGA/USGA Workshop Description

  • Three-day workshop
  • Access to either the 100-Question or 80-Question Exam on the morning of the fourth day (or online on a date you select from the exam schedule, available here.)
  • Access to the Virtual Rules School video recordings

Attendance

  • Be sure to sign in on the official class roster at the start of all morning and afternoon sessions each of the first three days.
  • PGA of America members must enter their PGA eight-digit member number at registration or next to their name on the attendance roster and attend the workshop in its entirety to be credited with 24 Professional Development Requirement hours. No partial credit is given by the PGA of America.

Business  casual recommended.

  • Aloft Frisco (hotel only – workshop at PGA HQ)
  • $129/night (includes parking) – a limited block of rooms is being held for workshop attendees at this rate. If you intend to stay at this hotel during the workshop, it is strongly recommended you make your reservation a soon as possible. If all rooms in the block become reserved, additional rooms may not be available at this or a higher rate. On January 29, 2026, any unreserved rooms will be released back into hotel inventory.

Location Information

Please note – the workshop is held at PGA of America’s HQ. The HQ is not open to the public the day prior to the workshop, so please do not arrive on site until Thursday morning.

Breakfast and Refreshments

A complimentary continental breakfast, including at least one hot item, will be provided each morning starting by 7:10 a.m. During scheduled breaks, complimentary coffee, tea, water and soft drinks will be provided. Lunch will be provided for Days 1-3 for this workshop and is included in the cost of registration.

Expenses

You are responsible for the cost of your transportation, lodging, and incidental expenses. Additionally, you are responsible for all your food and beverage expenses, except as otherwise detailed above.

About Your Instructors

David Staebler, USGA

David oversaw the development and updating of the PGA/USGA Rules of Golf Workshop presentations and the USGA Rules of Golf exams from 2007 until his retirement from the USGA’s Rules Department in 2023.  Also during that period, he took a variety of Rules responsibilities at 52 USGA national championships, plus the Walker Cup, Curtis Cup, PGA Championship, the Open Championship and the LPGA International Crown.  Since his retirement, he has remained active in Rules by officiating with the American Junior Golf Association, NCAA Division I men’s and women’s golf, GAP (formerly the Golf Association of Philadelphia) and also in a Rules education role with GAP.

Teddy Antonopoulos, PGA

A PGA Professional for the past 44 years, Ted is now the Golf Professional “Emeritus” at Mayacama Golf Club in Sonoma County, California. Beginning January 1, 2026, he will begin his two-year term as the Chairman of the PGA of America Rules Committee. He also serves on the USGA National Volunteer Committee. Ted has been an active Rules Official/Referee for most of his career, working 12 to 15 events/championships per year, including those conducted by the United States Golf Association, The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, NCAA National Championship Committee, PGA Tour, DP World Tour, LPGA, The Masters Tournament, The PGA of America, The Women’s Olympic Golf Competition, and The Ryder Cup, Solheim Cup and Walker Cup Matches. This is Ted’s 9th season as an Instructor in the PGA/USGA Rules of Golf Workshops.

Vincent Bachteler, PGA

Vincent is the current Director of Championships for the Northern Texas PGA Section. He has worked at four PGA Sections and has been involved with tournament operations for the last 10 years. Vincent joined the PGA Rules Committee in 2025 and this is his first year coordinating a USGA Rules of Golf Workshop.
