PGA/USGA Workshop Description

  • Three-day workshop
  • Access to either the 100-Question or 80-Question Exam on the morning of the fourth day (or online on a date you select from the exam schedule, available here.)
  • Access to the Virtual Rules School video recordings

Attendance

  • Be sure to sign in on the official class roster at the start of all morning and afternoon sessions each of the first three days.
  • PGA of America members must enter their PGA eight-digit member number at registration or next to their name on the attendance roster and attend the workshop in its entirety to be credited with 24 Professional Development Requirement hours. No partial credit is given by the PGA of America.

Business  casual recommended.

  • Springhill Suites Chicago/Bolingbrook (hotel only – workshop at Midwest Golf House)
  • $141/night (includes parking) – a limited block of rooms is being held for workshop attendees at this rate. If you intend to stay at this hotel during the workshop, it is strongly recommended you make your reservation a soon as possible. If all rooms in the block become reserved, additional rooms may not be available at this or a higher rate. On February 12, 2026, any unreserved rooms will be released back into hotel inventory.

Breakfast and Refreshments

A complimentary continental breakfast, including at least one hot item, will be provided each morning starting by 7:10 a.m. During scheduled breaks, complimentary coffee, tea, water and soft drinks will be provided.

About Your Instructors

Bryan Lewis , USGA

Bryan Lewis of South Haven, Michigan, has been a USGA Committee member since 1998 and member of the USGA Executive Committee since 2023. He has served on the Rules Committee for 89 USGA championships, five Masters Tournaments and two Walker Cup matches. He has been a member of the USGA Rules of Golf Committee since 2017 and has been an instructor at USGA/PGA Rules Workshops since 2019. Lewis played in the 1980 U.S. Junior Amateur and was a member of the Western Michigan University varsity golf team. He also served for four years on the Golf Association of Michigan Board of Governors.

Dave Podas , PGA

Dave is the Director of Golf for the Bel Air Country Club. He has been a member of the PGA of American Rules Committee since 2013 and a member of the SCPGA Rules Committee since 2012. Daivd was the 2022 SCPGA Metro Chapter Golf Professional of the Year. David has officiated at the PGA Championship, the PGA Senior Championship, the Masters, Junior Ryder Cup, the Ryder Cup, US Open as well as the USGA Amateur Championship and many PGA of America events. Dave has also competed on the PGA Tour and the PGA Tour Champions, including the 2014 US Senior Open.

Maggie Watts, USGA

Maggie joined the USGA in 2025 as the Assistant Director, Rules – Championships where she focuses on the development of referee best practices and training programs for USGA and AGA referees and Rules operations at USGA championships. Prior to joining the USGA, Maggie worked for the Carolinas Golf Association for nearly 10 years and the Virginia State Golf Association for two years. Maggie graduated with a degree in History from Radford University, where she was a member and captain of the women’s golf team and Eastern Kentucky University where she received a Master’s Degree in Sports Administration. Maggie currently lives in the Raleigh, NC area.
